‘Space’

a11earth2

I wonder what it is like,

Way out there in space.

Looking back on this globe,

All its majesty and grace.

To hover in wonder,

And be as a God.

Divorced from the perils,

Of man on this sod.

The feeling of power,

Nothing short of a miracle.

Yet the links with the earth,

Remain your umbilical.

To fly without hinder,

And glow like a star.

Controlled from the Cape,

So near yet so far.

Mission accomplished,

You start to descend.

Mere mortals below,

Just can’t comprehend.

The reason and beauty,

You have witnessed with awe.

Is threatened for ever,

By mans thirst for war
